#Mosstodon
Here are a few pictures I took on a short hike this morning (not too far from San Francisco). I love seeing the moss and lichen up close, it is amazing how much variety there is in the colors, textures, and shapes of both, not to mention how they show up against coastal redwoods and other large trees.
Close-up from a few inches away of individual moss fronds (if that's what they are called) and pine needles which were covering a large tree limb several feet off of the ground at eye leve. They are mostly in shadow except some of their tips which are in full sun.

Luscious, green, close-up of lichen interspersed with moss against a very rough, brown tree limb. Everything looks exceptionally soft due to the fine structures of the moss.
A tree trunk and its roots, growing into and against a jagged outcrop of rock (possibly shale). The tree trunk has large patches of lichen and moss. The roots of the tree seem to melt into the rock, or bubble out from the rock, in a very jarring fashion.
