Imagine you could install any software on any device. The devices you own that don't receive updates anymore, or where you found out that the software is full of ads/tracking. You could replace it, maybe with a Linux distro like postmarketOS running mainline. These devices wouldn't need to be electronic waste. We signed @fsfe's #openletter to the EU to make this happen.

You can sign it, too!

@fsfe so it is mandatory to have your name published on the site when signing? Cannot sign without having that "optional" box checked. Yet the linked list has just 2 entries. So I wonder how the others signed it without being listed.

Seeing the list of organizations having signed somehow doesn't make it plausible there were only 2 individuals signing it in the same period. So what's wrong here?

@IzzyOnDroid @fsfe@media.fsfe.org we are sorry for the bug and any inconvenience, it should be fixed now, can you please re-check?

the list is so small because until today only organisations have been able to sign the letter and the list is also only updated every 24 hours, so the list will be longer tomorrow : )

@fsfe@mastodon.social @fsfe@media.fsfe.org I have to admit I simply manipulated the HTML (via inspector) to remove the mandatory flag before sending the form (which worked, so I've already signed).

Looking at the form now: yes, looks good – thanks!

@fsfe FSFE: we're several people who want to sign but just like @tomterl when we click to confirm, we're getting the 'limit exceeded, 20 requests...' error, and then "Not Found No such pending confirmation ID".

Could you please fix this and inform us when it is done? I would like to share this more broadly, and it'd be better if people were not met with an error message. Thanks!

@fsfe @turbobob I can confirm that signing again with the same data from the beginning doesn't throw an error anywhere - thanks for fixing it and reporting back
