I have finished the robe, here's the rest of the making of photos!
Here, joined by Karvinen for felling the hem turn. All the little things you can do with fiddly corners when you're sewing by hand. Mitred obtuse corners! Finishing the sleeves by turning the cuffs.

A photo from the viewpoint of Sini, of the rather large and rather soft looking furry ginger paws of a cat gently grasping onto the sewing in progress. The left hand in the frame is holding onto a needle with red thread in it, in the process of hemming a lot of narrow hem. The fabric is a bright reed with blue and green flowers. The cat's paws look enormous compared to Sini's really quite small hand, but a lot of it is the distortion by the phone camera lens.
Very very close up of the front edge and lower hem meeting. Tiny little stitches have been used to fell all the edges down, making the front side look quite square while having folds and irregularity on the back.
A very nicely mitred hem basted down with loose light pink basting stitches. There is a thicker bit of seam at the corner, and the different layers have been fussed with until a very neat and well behaved looking intersection of all the material has been achieved.
The inside of the sleeve cuff, which is just a big rectangle sewn into a tube and then folded over the join, encasing all raw edges in a very simple and effective way. This way, should you roll up the sleeves, quite a lot of the underside looks very neat and finished. Not that the actual seam, felled by hand, looks that terrible either, but the underside of the fabric looks different than the top side.
