Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications (RTR) has decided not to regulate network operators regarding #RouterFreedom, allowing ISPs to impose their equipment on consumers.

We at FSFE regret this decision as a missed opportunity for #DeviceNeutrality in Austria.

However, as RTR reiterated, the current decision is not final and the regulator will re-evaluate this framework in the future! 🤞🏼

The 🇧🇪 Belgian telecom regulator #BIPT formally introduced #RouterFreedom! 📶

The decision encompasses all network types including fiber (FTTx) and the decision sets a deadline of 12 months for becoming compliant.

The FSFE acknowledges this decision as a major win for consumer rights, and will monitor further implementation.
