Today I was trying to explain the “character of the keys”, where musical key settings having a different feel or “color” than other keys…I’m curious if anyone has a good discussion/illustration of the phenomenon?

= a general gradient, lasting several hundred years, where some keys tended to be tuned more in tune than others. 🎨🌈
Which shaped composers habits + pieces, leading to I’d argue persistent shading to each key despite equal temperament being the norm for ~100 years. 🤯

I realize that what you're discussing is not synesthesia in the classic sense, but I have a gut feeling that people in your field with grapheme–color synesthesia might have an interesting perspective.

(I have time-space synesthesia, so I am no good to you in this case.)
