Some professors occasionally conduct classes on Google Meet. I just remain absent on those classes.

Oh, I forgot to add. Some also pressure students to join their WhatsApp or Facebook groups. I never joined such groups, I ask my classmates to notify if something important is discussed there.

We have a "problem": we have far too many IM programs: #Jami, #Session, #Signal, #SimpleX, #matrix clients, #xmpp clients, #Briar, and I'm sure I forgot someone else. Of course I'm grateful to all those smart people developing them but I don't know what to suggest to non technically savvy people, who are easily confounded. 😢😢😱

Seriously? There are people who still use that.

@paoloredaelli @redstarfish my take: Jami has an awful interface, but a neet idea; Session won't sort out the google notification problem on android by supporting unified push; Signal wont decentralize, SimpleX is looking great but its too early atm, rn it looks like the best privacy; Matrix and clients are great and getting better, xmpp does not seem worth the bother, Briar is a batery drain, and bc of how it works, its probably not a solvable problem.
