A vast underground network of fungi has been supporting life above ground for 450 million years, but the recent discovery by scientists, including researchers from the University of Sheffield, that fungi is storing OVER ONE THIRD OF THE CARBON created from fossil fuel emissions each year indicates that it could be crucial as nations seek to tackle climate change and reach net zero emissions

By now, you should realize that there is no chance — zero — that global warming will remain comfortably below 1.5°C. It’s not going to happen, even though back in 2015 in Paris, nearly every country in the world agreed to take all necessary actions to achieve that.

So we know 1.5 is dead at this point. But why is it dead?

Take a look at the chart below of 40 leading nations and how each of them have done so far in meeting their climate commitments.

Nobody, not one nation, is on track to do what they promised. All we ever get is more Business As Usual.

According to the #Guardian, former officials at the #FAO claimed that they faced censorship, sabotage, and victimization for more than a decade after they published a landmark report in 2006 called Livestock’s Long Shadow.

It estimated that #livestock, mostly #cattle, accounted for 18% of global greenhouse gas #emissions, which was more than the transport sector.

The report also highlighted the impacts of livestock on land use, water use, and #biodiversity loss.
