According to the #Guardian, former officials at the #FAO claimed that they faced censorship, sabotage, and victimization for more than a decade after they published a landmark report in 2006 called Livestock’s Long Shadow.

It estimated that #livestock, mostly #cattle, accounted for 18% of global greenhouse gas #emissions, which was more than the transport sector.

The report also highlighted the impacts of livestock on land use, water use, and #biodiversity loss.

Last week's workshop on #FAO #WaPOR at #INRAA in Algeria was great! Nice to work with #IHEDelft alumnus Walid Moulahoum & #IWMI colleague Karim Bergaoui to train around 30 participants from the agricultural and water sector on crop #waterproductivity concepts & #opendata analysis in #qgis. Future activities & training needs were defined. Thanks to Riad Mezaour & Imène Emy for the good organisation! https://www.fao.org/land-water/databases-and-software/wapor/en/
