Finally finished this jacket. I was gifted a bunch of upholstery fabric, much of it in smaller pieces, and have been challenging myself to find ways to use it. The jacket is lined and has five pockets in total.
I've just declared sock mending bankruptcy.
(I'm talking about thin cotton ones, not thicker wool ones I've knit)
* darning them is basically useless: as soon as they have been darned they break somewhere else
* patching them with bits of other socks works, but takes some effort and I have a years-long backlog. really. it's a huge bag and I'm not going to go through it ever, and there are others in various piles around the house
* I need materials to fill a few draught excluders, and I don't have enough textile waste of other types (that I don't want to reuse in some other way)

Free Patterns & Primary Sources For Historical Costumers - Sew Historically
This is a list of primary sources for historical costumers – like antique books & newspapers – that I’ve found over the past few decades and that I find most helpful when researching a new topic – with a focus on the Edwardian era.Lina (Sew Historically)
I’ve been asked for a good source of information for finding sewing machines that include such features as “no computers” and “easy buttonholes” and “less than US$700”, as well as dealing with a wide range of fabric thickness.
If you know a good website for sewing machine comparisons, that would be great. If you have a machine suggestion, that would also be good.
Thanks!
Boosts ok
I’m seeing the misconception, in recent comments, that stitching by hand is ‘hard work’.
It’s not hard, at all - it just takes time & patience and has the bonus effect of relaxing creativity!
Stitches needn’t be perfect or it’ll look machine made…and would loose the charm!
As with all things you practice, you get better with time.

My most recent one day make (done over 2 days as is tradition) is this reversible witches hat made of black cotton velvet and a checked silk wool blend.
I made it entirely out of pieces left over from old projects so nothing new was brought for it's constriction.
The only thing left to say is, who is joining my coven?

I'm on the hunt for a particular item to use in my insulin pump pouch sewing project...
It's like a cord pass-through for headphones but slightly bigger. I imagine it's made of silicone. In this backpack image, it'd be the little silicone slit on the first pouch from the body of the backpack to give an example of what I'm looking for.
Any ideas what I might be looking for? Thanks!
(Edit: It does not have to be a single slit, it could be a star passthrough, or anything that can be large enough to put a large coin through.)
