New project for #typography & #calligraphy fans: we just launched the ARETE visualisation – a visual and interactive history of the Latin alphabet!

https://uclab.fh-potsdam.de/arete/en

The visualisation reveals the diversity and variance of the Latin alphabet in the last 2000 years.

The project is not complete. Rather, it is a first attempt to bring the history of the alphabet into an interconnected structure and to present the major historical developments in a clear, evocative way. We welcome feedback!

Today was the last day of the gothic cursive #calligraphy workshop I've been taking. We took a two-week break between sessions 3 and 4, and I am still working through things. But in honor of #ESO release week for #Necrom, this was part of my homework for week 3. Everybody quotes Shakespeare or Zen or whatever. I like lorebooks.

Now to catch up on bastarde hand...

I've done the first two pages of the #calligraphy (sort of) project I've started yesterday: the estimate is around 10 pages, a bit more than I expected, but still doable, so I will go on until the end, rather than stopping at the first page and calling it done.

Peek preview of the first page:

a manuscript page (only the right half is written) in insular script (the first line is capitals, and the very first letter is twice as high) beginning with the words “Bitelice cealde” (the text is in Old English).

If you recognise what this is and want to comment please use the spoiler CW, so that other people can hazard a guess.

I expect bigger hints to appear on page 3 (should I say folio 2 r? :D ), but that hasn't been copied yet. (and this was also one reason why I decided not to stop at the first page: I wanted that hint and another later one to be there :) ).

I will post a link to the text I'm copying when the project is done (don't hold your breath, I'm slow, maybe a page per day?).

Fin! ^.^ I have some paper offcuts of good quality paper that I need to use up, and it's in weird sizes like this.

These are all 'people also asked' questions when you search for 'buttocks'. XD

Archival inks and gold pens on Fabriano Designo 210gm cold press paper.

$40 USD which includes worldwide shipping if you want it. :)
