Sometimes PCI devices can misbehave (wifi cards, sound cards, etc), but if they're in your laptop it can be harder to troubleshoot.

One option you can try is using sysfs to restart them! Good to keep in mind if it ever comes up.

Quick doodle to test a refurbished Ms Surface Pro 3 (cheap, 2014) running GNU/Linux (Fedora Gnome). Good hardware support out of the box for stylus and touch on this model.

Feedback:
- I could saw almost nothing while drawing, even with backlight to max and no sunglasses.
- It's not precise at all.
- It's super hot today and so was the black tablet.

But a 100% Free/Libre and open-source digital drawing pad with Mypaint on a bench? Very fun!
