Visibility map for #Ingenuity's 55th landing location. Apparently the #MarsHelicopter is not visible by #Perseverance from its present location.

Map drawn with #QGIS using data from #NASA's #MMGIS and #USGS - #HiRISE DTMs.

Our favorite Mars Helicopter had its picture taken today!
Ingenuity has now flown an astonishing distance of 12 kilometers in 95 minutes distributed over 53 flights (of just 5 that were originally planned)!
This image was taken by the left Mastcam-Z on Perseverance at a distance of just about 16 meters - the closest these two robots have come since early in the mission!

Something neat happens when you sort stars by color and brightness.

In this visualization of the stars in the globular cluster Omega Centauri, we can clearly see several groups of stars emerge from this sort: normal, main sequence stars; red giants; blue, horizontal branch stars; and white dwarfs. These are all stages in the lifecycle of Sun-like stars.

I made a #map of the inner solar system in blender and really need to show it off. I've only just started working with blender (so this was a doozie) but I thought it turned out great.

Planned: 30 days, five flights. Actual: 720 days, nearly *fifty* flights -- and counting. Go, little #MarsHelicopter, go!

To celebrate IWD here's a photo of my astronaut friend Samantha Cristoforetti, the first Italian woman to fly into space and do a spacewalk, and the first European woman to command the International Space Station.

The closeup is part of a photo I took at pad 39A of Kennedy Space Center on Apr 21, 2022, a few days prior to launching with her ride to space at left. Her ride at KSC is the red one.
