Aaaaaaand I've done all of the boning channels on the #AugustaStays I started in (checks for the old post) November 2022! And one spool of thread was enough! (I have another, luckily, as I plan to use the same thread for other seams, but for those I would also have had alternatives)
And since I took the picture I've also finished the eyelets on one of the center back pieces, and added boning to both of those and to the side fronts (but the sun has set, so there will be no more pictures until tomorow).
Now I only need to finish the rest of the eyelets, and most importantly to sew the whole thing :D
Maybe in January 2025 it will be done :D If I don't get distracted.
This most ambitious historical #sewing project I've ever done. It is my own variation of an 1876 designer French ball gown, unusual in its use of princess seams.
105 total yards of ruffled and pleated silk gauze. They flutter as I move, they are so lightweight.
To get the volume on the pleats I needed a 9:1 ratio of fabric. I rolled a hem on 45 yards of fabric strips, then created 1/2 pleats on a pleater board, creating 6 inches of pleated fabric at a time. That was then gathered.

A Dress Diary!
This will be a long one. Learned lots on this dress, so lots to share. I decided in Feb of 2016 that I wanted to make this dress for CoCo t...sewtimely.blogspot.com
can we please stop for a second to celebrate the way I was out of bobbin thread while doing a non-structural basting seam, and after I had done enough of said seam that the missing bit (blue line in the picture, after the red arrow) didn't really matter?
Japanese artist Nana Akua photographed her grandmother's embroidery folk art called Temari.
A colourful thread-wrapped & embroidered temari ball is given as a token of love and good luck to family and friends.

Well, that took a while. Buttonholes and buttons on. There were multiple of both! 😂 Linen thread is so nice to sew with, especially on linen.
I have finished the robe, here's the rest of the making of photos!
Here, joined by Karvinen for felling the hem turn. All the little things you can do with fiddly corners when you're sewing by hand. Mitred obtuse corners! Finishing the sleeves by turning the cuffs.

I have given in to the gay urge to buy loud prints but eventually got it down to this relatively tame selection. I wanted to iron them before taking the photo but the sun is going to set before I get to it. 😂
Behold, my very mild Loud Print Fabrics to make more basic button up shirts from!
And maybe fussing around with a couple of little details. (Sleeve pleats are asymmetrical collar comes too much around the front)
This is already amazing and getting tons of wear even unfinished
