I understand it may be a niche topic - but when starting out as a student of Spatial Econometrics I struggled mightily with the concept of contiguity and weight matrices - the queen and rook and KNN and distances and what not based neighborhood patterns.

And, having known the torment of thirst, I have dug out a well - technically wrote a blog post - so that others may drink.
